Setting a new record
For the vast majority of us, a $125M or a $135M home is way out of our price range, but somewhere out there there are a couple of sellers banking on buyers to come a callin’.
Currently, the most expensive home on the market is a $135 million ranch in Aspen. Of course, if snow isn’t your thing, you can check out Donald Trump’s mansion in Palm Beach which is on the market for $125M or a 45,000-square-foot L.A. property, modeled on Versailles, also available for $125M. If these residents sell for anywhere near their asking price, they will set new records in the U.S.
However, a look at some of the more pricey pieces of real estate languishing on the market may suggest that a truckload of patience may ebe needed. For example, New York’s most expensive residential property, which is a triplex penthouse at the Pierre, has a smaller price tag of only $70 million. Unfortunately, there have been no takers and it has remained parked on the market since October 2004.
