Northwest Still Performing Well

Five Northwest metropolitan areas are among the nation’s top 20 cities in housing appreciation according to a report by the National Association of Realtors. One of those areas doing well is the Portland-Vancouver area which recorded an 11.2% gain in housing prices from fourth quarter 2005, at $285,400. The region ranked 13th in the nation in housing price gain.

Nationally, sales declined by 10.1% in the fourth quarter compared with the same period a year ago. The national median price dropped to $219,300, down 2.7% from fourth quarter 2005.
