Real Estate & Homes in Vermont - Vermont homes and communities
Vermont

Welcome to the Green Mountain State!
Vermont is the only landlocked state in New England. Famed for its maple syrup and rugged terrain, this mountainous region has several popular ski areas, including Stowe, Mount Snow, Killington and Sugarbush. Presidents Chester A. Arthur and Calvin Coolidge were born in Vermont, which was also home to Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen. You can learn more about the state's history at the Shelburne Museum, the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum.

Try some ice cream during a tour of Ben and Jerry's factory near Waterbury, or make your own cuddly companion at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company in Shelburne. Other attractions include the Green Mountain National Forest, the Calvin Coolidge Homestead, the New England Maple Museum, Hubbardton Battlefield and the Bennington Battle Monument. The state's name comes from the French “vert mont,” which means “green mountain.” Its capital is Montpelier, and major cities include Burlington, Essex, Colchester and Rutland. More than 619,000 residents live in Vermont, which spans 9,250 square miles. In 2000, the median value of owner-occupied housing units was $111,500.
