Real Estate & Homes in Nebraska - Nebraska homes and communities
Nebraska
Welcome to the Cornhusker State! Nebraska is a leading grain producer, growing corn as well as sorghum, wheat and more varieties of grass than any other state. It entered the Union in 1867 and adopted a unique unicameral (one-house) Legislature in 1937. The state is home to Boys Town, Agate Fossil Beds National Monument and Chimney Rock National Historic Site. Other attractions include the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, the Museum of Nebraska History in Lincoln, the Strategic Air & Space Museum in Ashland, the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha and the Carhenge sculpture near Alliance. The state's name comes from an Oto Indian word meaning “flat water.” Its capital is Lincoln, and major cities include Omaha, Bellevue and Grand Island. More than 1.7 million residents live in Nebraska, which spans 76,872 square miles. In 2000, the median value of owner-occupied housing units was $88,000.
