The new State House, which was built in 1795, is topped by a 23.5-carat gold leaf dome. Other older buildings
can be found throughout the city.

The Boston Common is one of the oldest public parks in the nation. Public hangings took place here until 1817,
and cattle grazed on the grounds until 1830.

Built in 1847, the Custom House was Boston's first skyscraper. Now a hotel and condominium complex,
the 26-story structure offers a great view of the Common and other areas of the city.

Located near the waterfront, Faneuil Hall served as a meeting hall where Samuel Adams and his fellow patriots
