Boston

Boston History
Boston was founded in 1630. In the early 1700s, it grew into a thriving port city serving ships from England and the West Indies. The city played a major role during the Revolutionary War, from the Boston Tea Party and the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the Boston Massacre and the Battle of Bunker Hill. After the Revolutionary War, Boston grew and was chartered as a city in 1822. Immigrants flooded the area, which became home to English, Irish and Italians, many of whom were staunch Catholics. By in the mid-1900s, Boston was a factory town. Over the years, it also became a center for finance, culture and education. The city is home Harvard, MIT and Boston College as well as the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops. Sports fans are represented by the Celtics (basketball), the Patriots (football), the Bruins (hockey) and the Red Sox (baseball).
