Points of interest include Sutter's Mill, Disneyland, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, Sequoia National Park, Death Valley and Yosemite National Park. The state was named after a fictional earthly paradise in "Las Sergas de Esplanidian," written around 1500. Its capital is Sacramento, and major cities include Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.
